Fraud Detection & Prevention

Fraudulent sign ups in the web hosting industry are a prolific problem web hosts face on a day to day basis. We regard fraudulent users as those who provide us fake details such as name, address and contact numbers. Another user that falls into this category would also be one that has a history of abusing services, such as using a web hosting service to send bulk, unsolicited emails (spam) and hosting illegal material. These users bog down web hosting servers and give the web host (us) a bad reputation.

We perform strict vetting of every new client that signs up with Austenite to verify customer details, this keeps the service fast and reliable for businesses and individuals that utilise our services.

In most cases customers will have no problems and the account will be set up automatically within the standard five minutes, if for any reason you fail the fraud checks your account will be flagged for manual review. This means the account will not be activated until the billing team manually check and activate or cancel the service. If this is out of office hours (10AM-10PM) GMT activation will take place at the beginning of the next working day.

We reserve the right to cancel and refund any order received that fails these checks with or without explanation as set out in our terms and conditions.


Austenite Web Hosting utilises MaxMind, FraudLabsPro & FraudRecord to screen new orders for previous fraudulent activity and report existing clients who violate our Terms of Service. In case of a violation, you may be reported to MaxMind, FraudLabsPro and/or FraudRecord for misbehaviour using one-way hashed information.
